European Parliament approves end of time change in 2021

The European Parliament has positioned itself on Tuesday at the end of the time change. MEPs suggest that the change of the time of March 2021 be the last for Member States wishing to keep daylight saving time.

This Sunday, the Europeans will spend the summer time which will mean for them one hour of sleep less. In two years, this gesture could be a thing of the past. A change claimed by 84% of 4.6 million recently consulted Europeans.

The European Parliament voted overwhelmingly on Tuesday to repeal the change of seasonal time in the European Union from 2021. The legislative text was adopted by 410 votes in favor, 192 against and 51 abstentions.

Concretely, European countries that decide to keep daylight saving time permanently will have to adjust their watches one last time on the last Sunday of March 2021, and those who prefer to keep the winter time could make a last change of hour on the last Sunday of October
